Frequently Asked Questions-Find the right therapist for you

  • Who is your typical client?

I have experience working with clients who are struggling with depression, major life transitions, troubled relationships, childhood trauma, anxiety, attachment styles, chronic health, neurodivergence, and/or boundary setting. I take care in making sure there's room to discuss not only the impact of mental health, but also incorporating every client's unique identity, culture, intersectionality, race, ethnicity, and spirituality and how this shows up to define attitudes, beliefs, and values.

  • Does it really matter who my therapist is?

Choosing the right therapist is crucial, and seeking one who resonates with you on a personal level ensures a more meaningful therapeutic experience. Opting for a therapist who genuinely connects with your unique personality, values, and goals fosters a comfortable and trusting environment, enhancing the effectiveness of the therapeutic process. Evidence shows that the relationship between you and your therapist provides the #1 most effective change and outcomes…more so than any other experience, training or modality (however these are important, too!).

  • I'm not sure I know what I want to work on in therapy? I have some ideas, but it's not clear.

If you're unsure about what to work on in therapy, that's completely normal! Start by discussing this uncertainty with your therapist during your sessions. They are trained to help you explore various aspects of your life, thoughts, and emotions. Together, you can collaboratively identify areas that may need attention, whether it's managing stress, navigating relationships, understanding emotions, or setting personal goals. The process of self-discovery often unfolds naturally in therapy, so simply expressing your uncertainty can be the first step toward finding meaningful areas to explore and work on.

  • What does a session with you usually look like?

The sessions are usually about 50 minutes in length and will begin with a check-in. Have there been any updates or things of significance since last session? I use a client-centered approach which means you can decide if you want to continue where we left off last week (Forgot—don’t worry, I have notes for that). Maybe you’ll want to start somewhere new.

We’ll then team up into deciding what the goal of the session will be. After we come up with our game plan, we’ll dive into the stuff to make those goals happen. Picture a mix of insightful back-and-forth conversation, education, and practical skill-building or guided exercises.

Before we wrap up, I'll toss some considerations your way – things to continue to think about and exercises to use in between sessions. It's a team effort and the real magic often happens between our sessions.

  • Will this be online or in person?

I am currently only providing sessions online. I am not providing in-person services at this time. All of our sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video meeting platform. It’s easy to use and you can join either by computer, tablet, or mobile device.

  • What are your prices? Do you do sliding scale?

My fees range from $100-$220 depending on the type of service you are booking.

I do provide sliding scale pricing depending on your income and slot availability. It is important to me to provide access to quality care in our communities.

Please note: If you are using your insurance, that fee will be determined by your provider. Contact them directly to determine coverage and fees.

Check out Services & Fees for more info.

  • What if you don't take my insurance? Do you provide super-bills?
